We are here sharing two current opportunities from the MPA4Change project, which is under the umbrella of our Interreg Euro Med – Natural Heritage Mission, and which may interest you or relevant contacts within your network.

🌊 Training Programme on Climate Change Adaptation in Marine Protected Areas

MPA4Change has just launched a new training programme designed to strengthen the capacities of MPA managers and marine conservation experts in adapting to climate change and enhancing ecosystem resilience.

The training will cover:

  • Protocols to assess climate change impacts on marine ecosystems (including citizen science initiatives)
  • Methodologies for evaluating vulnerability in MPAs
  • Participatory processes for designing climate adaptation plans

The format of the training:

  • Hybrid: online modules followed by a face-to-face workshop (limited places)
  • Online only: access to all e-learning modules

🗓 Registrations for the Hybrid Training are open until 4 April 2024. More information and registration: MPA4Change Training – Monitoring Protocols Module

📢 The project is also seeking to contract an experienced consultant or consultancy to support policy and advocacy activities related to climate change adaptation in MPAs.

The selected expert/consultancy should:

  • Have solid knowledge of marine conservation and climate adaptation policies at the Mediterranean, EU, and global levels
  • Engage with policymakers and stakeholders to support policy change
  • Represent the project at key events and facilitate relevant sessions
  • Contribute to building alliances across relevant networks
